Sutton Kersh raise £6m at property auction in Liverpool
North West Property auctioneers Sutton Kersh raised £6m, selling 70% of the 93 lots at their second auction of 2008 in the UK.
The auction, at the Marriot Hotel in Queen Square, was well supported with many lots sold in excess of guide prices. Bidding commenced with the English Presbyterian Church in Bootle, which sold for £88,000, more than three times its guide price.
Two sites on Upper Parliament Street both sold above their guide prices. The former hotel at 142-144 sold for £478, 000 and 52-56, highlighted as a residential new build opportunity, sold for £425,000.
James Kersh, director at Sutton Kersh, said: “The result of the auction is near to a miracle if we are to believe the headlines that have been hitting the press.
“All we have heard is doom and gloom about the property market over the last few months. Our first two auctions of 2008 have been well received.”
Sutton Kersh’s next auction will take place on May 15.
