Inland Real Estate Auctions, Inc. announced today that it will be auctioning a 118,000-square-foot industrial facility in Phenix City, Ala., that has previously housed a carpet manufacturing company and a candle and bath lotion manufacturer. The developer of the recently opened Eight Orchids condominium mid-rise in Oakland hopes to auction off nearly a third of the units, with some starting bids $300,000 below prior asking prices, as builders struggle to unload new properties in the current housing climate.
The 157-unit Eight Orchids has generated interest among buyers, with about 2,500 registering at the property or on the Web site, said Stuart Gruendl, chief executive officer of BayRock.

The former William Boyd Printing Co. plant in downtown Albany, N.Y., wasn’t sold during a Feb. 29 auction because the highest bid was too low to satisfy bankruptcy court creditors, a real estate broker said Monday.
The highest bid was $1 million, said Tony Sabatino of Realty USA.
Boyd Printing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2005, listing $2.1 million in secured and unsecured debts.
