A RECORD 43 houses were sold in one day during an auction in George earlier this month when a timeshare contract for homes in Sedgefield and Plettenberg Bay came to its end.

Auctioneer Louis van Rensburg said at the weekend that the homes went for an average R1,19-million apiece, putting a final R43 860 000 in the sellers‘ pockets.

The homes are located on the island in Sedgefield and in Longships Drive, Plettenberg Bay.

“Most were sold to individual buyers.

“I have done a couple of vacant erven in one auction, but never developed properties like this,” Van Rensburg said.

He said there were 182 registered buyers for the auction and no reserve price was set.
