Cape Town Airport Site For Auction

PUBLISHED 5 October 2007

A PRIME 4283m’ vacant site situated barely a kilometre from Cape Town International Airport, with approved plans for the development of retail and residential accommodation, is to be auctioned on site at 11am on October 24 by Pam Golding Commercial Auctions.

Bounded by Sky Road, John Ramsay Avenue, Heath Street and facing busy Modderdam Road in Bishop Lavis, the site offers high visibility to passing traffic, and was formerly a petrol station.

Paddy Smuts, auctioneer for Pam Golding Commercial Auctions, said the approved development at 62 John Ramsay Avenue would comprise six ground-floor shops and 28 flats on two floors.

“This is seen as a developing area with sound potential, which is reaffirmed by the fact that major companies such as Pick ‘n Pay and DHL have invested in sizable buildings nearby.

“With the airport and its large staff complement nearby, the potential for such a mixed-use development is extremely positive.

“In fact, interest has already been shown by a major supermarket chain,” Smuts said.

Another property, comprising a building of about 180m’ — used as a crèche and preschool — set on a 1299m’ erf located just off busy Koeberg Road in Milnerton, Cape Town, is to be auctioned on site at 11am on Thursday.
