Marsh plans to auction 27 sites in Midwest

PUBLISHED 29 September 2007

Marsh Supermarkets has retained a Florida-based auctioneer to sell 27 surplus properties throughout Indiana and Ohio, the auction company said Friday.

“Although these properties no longer fit into the future plans of Marsh, they are located in many prime markets around the region, with some of the locations being no more than a few years old and fully equipped,” said John Haney, general manager of Lakeland, Fla.-based Higgenbotham Auctioneers International Ltd. in a statement.

The auction’s proceeds will help Marsh continue renovating and upgrading operating stores, the statement said.

The inventory consists of 15 retail outparcels/development tracts and 12 retail buildings. The properties are former supermarkets, retail centers and development tracts.

Properties in Central Indiana include 3919 Madison Ave. and 17 N. Lynhurst Drive in Indianapolis; 5136 N. Franklin Road in Lawrence; 10679 Michigan Road in Zionsville; and 14575 and 14450 Mundy Drive in Noblesville.

Information on the properties is available at HAI’s Web site: www.higgenbotham.com.

Marsh Supermarkets was founded in 1931 with one store in Muncie.
Headquartered in Fishers, the company operates 79 Marsh Supermarkets, 19 LoBill Foods, six O’Malia’s Food Markets, Crystal Food Services, Primo Banquet Catering and Floral Fashions.
