Wicklow Abbey Cinema sold

Published August 25th, 2007

The derelict Abbey Cinema in Wicklow town has been sold, local auctioneer, Anne Lait, confirmed this week.

The cinema, which closed over five years ago, was put up for sale by tender which attracted a ‘healthy interested’ from perspective buyers.

The identity of the buyer remains a mystery, with Ms Lait revealing only that it was not a local purchaser.

She could not comment further on the sale or what plans the new owner has for the valuable Wentworth Place site, except to say that they were finalising their plans.
