Dublin-based estate agents, Knight Frank Ganly Walters, have just offered the Kilbrennal House Stud in Ballynonty, Killenaule, Co Tipperary. The renovated Georgian house includes a new guest wing and sits in the grounds of a working stud. Dating back to the early 1800s, the stud was established in the 1930s. Winners as well known as Hardy Eustace, Character Building and His Song were bred there.

An enclosed courtyard contains 23 loose boxes, tack room, feed room, vet box and washroom, but there are also three other barns on the property. The farmyard consisted of a barn with 64 cubicle units, a number of livestock sheds and two silage pits.

However, the farm was withdrawn unsold on the day and the agents are now quoting €3.7m for the entire farm. “There was plenty of interest for the 28ac lot but we were unwilling to sell that without selling the residential 64ac portion,” said auctioneer Celia Lambe.
