Delhi Development Authorityauctions 18 plots, manages four buyers

PUBLISHED 24 July 2007

Amid protests by applicants of Rohini residential scheme, 1981, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) began auction of 32 freehold residential plots in Rohini and managed to sell four plots at over Rs 1 crore per plot.

Applicants of the Rohini residential scheme, 1981, gathered at the auction venue, demanding that the DDA should allot land to them first, as they had been promised plots by the authority 26 years back.
“The DDA officials are adamant, and claim that there is no land. But we want them to provide us plots by recovering the land that has been encroached,” said Rahul Gupta, one of the protesters.

The DDA had arranged for tight security outside the auction venue as it feared the protesting applicants might disrupt the auction.

On the first day of the auction of freehold plots in Rohini, 18 plots were put on sale. The auction will continue for the next two days.
