Santa Cruz County staged its most successful tax-defaulted property sale this week, peddling 10 parcels for more than $442,000.
The county’s first eBay-style online auction garnered 752 bids from 38 people in six states. Generally, fewer than 10 people bid in previous county auctions, said Treasurer Fred Keeley.
The online auction “draws a larger field of folks who have the willingness to bid these properties up,” he said.

Sutton Kersh achieved a 90% sold figure after raising more than £8.3 million in receipts recently from one of their largest auctions to date.
Following a bumper year in 2006 with sales totalling in excess of £37 million, the Cotton Street-based auction house also held what is believed to be the longest ever auction on record in Liverpool.
Held at the Marriott Hotel City Centre, the auction was characterised by some fierce bidding, particularly on commercial lots around or under £100,000.

The Arizona State Land Department is expecting a strong turnout when it auctions a commercial lease on an industrial parcel in north Scottsdale next month.
The department will auction a lease for 124.7 acres northeast of East Bell Road and Loop 101 on April 24.
“This is a prime commercial-industrial site in Scottsdale,” said Jamie Hogue, deputy state land commissioner. “It’s in the middle of all the action that’s happening right now. We’re expecting this to be a very competitive auction.”

Property auctioneers The Venmore Partnership is expanding into Wirral following the acquisition of Property Link.
Venmores, which has its head office in Liverpool, and 20 branches across Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire, has bought the Birkenhead lettings and property management company.
The company will hold its first Wirral property auction on Friday, April 20 at the Village Hotel, Bromborough.
Phil Cassidy, a Venmores partner and senior auctioneer, said: “Acquiring Property Link gives The Venmore Partnership a permanent Wirral base and allows us to provide an even better service.”

ChinaChem Group was the winning bidder for the third site sold in the government land auction today, officials said.
ChinaChem won the site – a 29,601 square foot plot at Plover Cove in New Territories -with a bid of 570 mln hkd.
The site, the smallest of three sites offered in today’s auction, had a minimum asking price of 326 mln hkd.

SVA Property Auctions has achieved sales of more than £6.3 million, the company’s highest auction proceeds, in the first auction of its 2007 programme. In all, 90 per cent of the 45 lots in the catalogue were sold at the auction in Glasgow, including some substantial deals concluded before the auction itself.
