Geller gazumped over eBay Elvis house

PUBLISHED 3 June 2006

Paranormal spoon-bender Uri Geller has lost out on a bid to buy a house once owned by Elvis Presley after purchasing it in an eBay auction.

Geller, who had once performed his spoon-bending trick for the king of rock\’n\’roll himself, believed he had bought 1034 Audubon Drive, where Presley lived for 13 months, when his $905,100 (£481,000) bid won an eBay auction in May.

Now it appears that the alleged psychic might not be so close to owning a little piece of Elvis history as he once thought, for the sellers of the property have sold it to a foundation run by music producer Mike Curb.

\”We are absolutely, mind-blowingly angry. Of course we\’re going to sue,\” Geller said in response to the news.

His legal battle might run into a problem when it comes up against the law, however.

As eBay property auctions are not contractually binding but are merely used as a marketing and publicising tool, any attempt to claim a breach of contract is unlikely to succeed.
